Heulwen describes herself as a busy, creative and enthusiastic mother and people person who loves life, and strives to accomplish as much as possible every single day! Heulwen lives near Machynlleth with her husband Gareth and her daughter Elsi Dyfi.
She was raised in Glantwymyn near Machynlleth and is very proud to be from Mid Wales and wants to put Mid Wales on the map! She studied a BA in Theatre Music and Media in Trinity College Carmarthen and spent 3 months studying in Central College, Pella Iowa before completing an MA degree in Media. She worked as a TV Producer and Director in Swansea for six years and had the opportunity to film in all corners of the world including China, Indonesia, Morocco and the African jungle, as well as in most towns, farms and villages in Wales!
She returned home to Mid Wales in 2010 and worked as a BBC Radio producer and also set up her own boutique and homeware shop in Machynlleth. In 2011 she started her bilingual marketing and events company, and has worked with dozens of companies and individuals across the country, to promote their business and organise events.
In 2017 Heulwen founded www.mamcymru.wales an online and bilingual magazine for mums in Wales to share stories, advice and tips and as a result Heulwen has become the voice for mother’s in Wales! In 2018 she published her first book ‘Mam Croeso i’r Clwb!’ which was the number 1 best seller of books for adults in Wales, in March 2018.
Due to the overwhelming success of her blog and book, Heulwen was nominated for a 2018 Womenspire Award, and managed to reach the short list of 44 out of 450 nominees. Heulwen is proud to be named amongst the 44 most inspiring women in Wales in 2018. Her aim is to continue to succeed in order to be the best role model possible for her daughter Elsi.
Kathy is a North Wales native, having grown up in Wrexham but moved to Aberystwyth shortly after University. An English Literature and Language Graduate, she studied in Leeds but soon found she missed the green, green grass of home! A passionate traveller, she has journeyed throughout Europe and Latin America, as well as spending time in South East Asia and the United Arab Emirates – always being available to remind people she met that Wales is indeed different from England!
After moving to Aberystywth in 2013, Kathy got a job with Cambria Tours / Cambria DMC, an Aberystwyth- based tour operator who specialises in bringing travellers into Wales, and has been there ever since! She is incredibly enthusiastic about forging connections and showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of Wales, and has proudly promoted her country around the world including China, Mexico, Germany, the US and more.
The last 12 months have been huge for Kathy as she became director of Epic Retreats, started her own PR and Marketing Company (www.sunshinePR.co.uk) and won “Young Person of the Year” in the National Tourism Awards for Wales! Epic Retreats, a selection of Welsh-legend inspired cabins, launched last year and saw widespread international coverage for Wales, including a Channel-4 documentary following the build of which Kathy was also part of!
Both women are fired up to grow the Wales International community and capture the stories of the amazing things happening in and around Wales, as well as talking to those across the globe who have Welsh roots and are flying the flag proudly wherever they go.
If you want to get in touch, contact [email protected]cymru and one of them will get back to you! They are happy to communicate in Welsh or English.
